Meet comments:
16 keen drifters turned up for the competitions, on a hot and sunny Sunday afternoon. This month was one of the easiest to point-score compared to any other, with Brian (NSSSMO) absolutely cleaning up the synchro challenges!

The grid-race showed a relatively spaced ranking, with the usual suspects such as Sushi Drifter and Dingo@Sniper in 1st and 2nd places respectively. I suspect Brian got spun early on in the 3-lap grid race, as he started almost at the very back of the pack, and was left to make up points from there.

Strategy or not, Brian managed to win 10 synchro battles in a row (very convincingly too!) and brought a non-scoring total up to an impressive 20 points! Brian converts this to a first-place prize of a new EP4200mAh battery, courtesy of Sydney RC Drifters.

This left Jasen (Sushi Drifter) with very little to do with his 10 points other than sit back and claim overall second place and a Tamiya Brake LED kit, courtesy of Sydney RC Drifters and Windsor Hobby & Race Centre.

Deane (Dingo@Sniper) also didn't get much of a chance to improve his 8-point position, and walks away contented with a $20 gift certificate, courtesy of Windsor Hobby & Race Centre.

Thanks again to everyone for making it a fun and fluid day! See you next month!

Meet comments:
Round two kicked off in March with a relatively low 15 competitors. Regardless, the skill level is really getting up there, and it's becoming very difficult to fault the pack leaders.

The grid-race left a fairly even score and rank for the synchro-drifts, although Alex (M1CK9) managed to win 7 challenges in a row, making him the overall point-scoring winner on the day with 14 points and a first-place prize of a new battery, courtesy of Sydney RC Drifters.

Tim (mtngoat) was left alone in second place on 10 points, with no challenges won, and no ties to draw. Tim scores a ?, courtesy of Sydney RC Drifters and Windsor Hobby & Race Centre.

Third place goes to DKim with an overall score of 8 points, 4 of which were won with some amazing synchro-drift skills. DKim walks away with a $20 gift certificate, courtesy of Windsor Hobby & Race Centre.

Thanks again to everyone for making it a fun and fluid day! See you next month!

Meet comments:
This was the first official SRCD round for 2008, and it went off with a blast! We've moved from Thursday nights to Saturday daytimes, so more of you keen drifters can make it to the events!

A funny grid-race with over 20 drifters muscling for ranks saw an interesting result. SushiDrifter scored no grid-race points, but went on challenging in the sychro rounds to work his way up 9 places, earning him a winning 18 points and a first-place prize of a new battery, courtesy of Sydney RC Drifters.

Steven and Kevin battled it out one-on-one to break the 2nd place tie. Kevin became the overall 2nd place winner on the day with 10 points and scored a Duratrax car workstation, courtesy of Sydney RC Drifters and Windsor Hobby & Race Centre.

This left Steven in overall 3rd place, on his first official time out on the track. Steven also picks up 10 points, and a $20 gift certificate, courtesy of Windsor Hobby & Race Centre.

A big thanks to everyone for joining in the fun and action, and props to Kingcrossy for organising lunch! See you next month!

Meet comments:
This was our last comp for the year, and many drifters had some valueable points to score and defend. Overall first place was up for grabs between Deane and Jomsy, with only a handfull of points seperating them.

We ran two comps to double up the points for the day, and give the guys lower on the leaderboard a chance to catch up to these two manic drifters. It didn't help in the end, with Deane winning both main grid-races and setting himself up with 20 points before the synchro battles even begun.

The synchro battles were tight, with some of the best drifting seen all year. Almost no mistakes at all, and a very hard competition to judge at times, with more than a couple of rematches to prove consistency.

image

Deane completely cleaned up and walked home with the Season 1 and Season 2 overall champion trophies, and the Final Battle 1st place trophy... not to mention his Body Of The Month trophy. I think the competition really needs to stick it to Deane in 2008! Deane added another 22 points to his grand total for the last Season of 2007.

This left Sushi Drifter as the overall 2nd place winner of the SRCD Final Battle, and a trophy to prove it! A final 18 points was added to the leaderboard, putting Jasen in a respectable 3rd place in Season 2!

Matt (Chicken) pulled up in 3rd place on the day with a total of 16 points to his name, and showed a lot of consistently good drifting. A third place trophy is awarded to Matt for this meet. Matt finished 2007 in overall 5th place, and only attended about 50% of the meets. This guy is one to watch out for!

A big special thanks to everyone who came out and made this day a treat! There were a couple of first-time competitors who showed quite a bit of co-ordination and skill... we hope you can compete throughout 2008 and put up a good fight!

Meet comments:
This was our second last comp for the year, and tensions were high. I heard many different strategies being discussed, but in the end Deane and Jomsy were tied at an overall 1st place on 10 points each. A quick re-match of the synchro style drift saw Deane pull ahead and leave Jomsy 1.5 corners behind.

Deane chose a first prize of a 3000mAh Annsman battery pack, courtesy of www.windsorhobbies.com.au rather than the Mazda RX7 FD bodyshell. Deane runs a Tamiya TB02 with a Yellow/Red Pearl Nissan Silvia S15 bodyshell.

Jomsy picked up the RX7 shell, also on 12 points, and an overall 2nd place of the night... courtesy of www.sydneyrcdrifters.com. Jomsy already runs a Blue RX7 bodyshell on his Yokomo chassis.

On 8 points in third place was Adam with his Tamiya TA03 and Pink Nissan GTR bodyshell. Adam scored a $20 gift certificate courtesy of Windsor Race and Hobby Centre.

Many thanks again to the hardcore regulars who were able to make it once again. I realise that this time of year gets busy for everyone, but hopefully we'll have 30+ drifters in December during the school holidays!

A reminder: We don't meet in November because of our participation at AutoSalon, which is the first weekend in December. See you all there!

Meet comments:
A smaller number this month (only 15 drifters!) meant a bit more space on the track was available, but Deane (Dingo@Sniper) cleaned it up once again!
This wasn't without a good fight though, as Matt (Chicken) brought home three consecutive wins after placing third on the grid-race, which put him on an equal 10 points for the night.

Deane took out a final challenge and walked away with a mini RC helicopter courtesy of www.sydneyrcdrifters.com rather than the Nissan 350Z bodyshell.

This left Matt, also on 10 points, with the 350z bodyshell and overall 2nd place of the night.

On 8 points in third place was Jay with his Gold NSX that blitzed up the ranks to a respectable 2nd place in the grid-race. Jay scores a $20 gift certificate courtesy of Windsor Race and Hobby Centre.

A big thanks to everyone who participated and had too much fun! It's always a blast and a good evening to unwind!
Bear in mind that our October meet will be the last until our SRCD Final Battle in December sometime. We don't meet in November because of our participation at AutoSalon, which is the first weekend in December.

Meet comments:
This month saw a slightly lower turnout than usual, with a total of 17 cars on the track. Needless to say, it was still a very tight competition with many newer drifters really picking up the pace!

A tie for 1st and 2nd at the end of the night between Jomsy and Blue Hornet saw a 1 on 1 driftoff hit the track, with Jomsy pulling out ahead to take his choice in first prize! James chose the mini lithium-powered chopper, courtesy of www.sydneyrcdrifters.com.au and adds 10 points to the drivers scoreboard.

This put Blue Hornet in overall 2nd place on the night, who walked away with a brand new 3300mAh battery from Windsor Race and Hobby Centre.

In 3rd place on 8 points, Deane walked away with a $20 gift certificate from Windsor Race and Hobby Centre and SRCD.

Thanks to everyone for making the night a smooth run with lots of fun, and if anyone has a chance to rustle up another sponsor for our comps... please let me know! We're hoping to do something a bit bigger for an end-of-year overall NSW drift comp in October!
